Work Schedule:  Wednesday – Sunday (6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.)
Pay Range:  $20.36 - $21.43

JOB SUMMARY:   Ensure the safety and security of MCASD staff, visitors, and VIP guests. Monitor and enforce MCASD policies in order to safeguard the collection from damage or theft.  Make appropriate business decisions under various safety, security, and emergency-related situations.  Supervise assigned Security Service Representatives (SSR).  Support mission and vision of Museum throughout performance of duties.    

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  
  • Support the implementation of formal safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Serve as primary escalation point to resolve any customer service issues or violations of MCASD policies or procedures related to safety and security.
  • Conduct open and close procedures, alarm system operation, and access control/key control policy.
  • Ensure professional dress and demeanor is strictly maintained within department.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and decorum throughout all interactions, including with the public, guests, contractors, third-party services, trustees, and employees.
  • Ability to promptly respond to and address emergency situations displaying appropriate sense of urgency for each situation. 
  • Ensure prompt resolution and corrective action of any noted deficiencies received through standard reporting processes.
  • Provide ongoing supervision, mentoring, and scheduling to the on-site Security Services Representative staff.  Support and perform SSR duties as needed.
  • Perform internal and external patrols of museum and galleries. 
  • Provide Security escorts as needed.
  • Perform SSR duties as needed.  Ensure visitors adhere to company policy to preserve the collection and prevent theft or damage.
  • Ensure safe work environment through knowledge of and adherence to safety policies and procedures. 
  • Flexibility to work alternate, part time, special event shifts, and overtime, including weekends and/or after hours. 
  • Follow policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:  Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with tact, diplomacy, and professional demeanor with all museum clientele, VIP guests, visitors, and museum employees.  Ability to effectively bridge security services, engagement, and hospitality with a cross-departmental collaboration mindset while supervising museum events.  Ability to maintain professional composure while carrying out the duties of the position.  Strong verbal and written communication skills.  Good technical skills with a proficiency in MS Office.  Ability to perform crowd control and provide clear guidance and direction.  Strong attention to detail.  Ability to work with minimal supervision.  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make on-the-spot decisions under pressure.  High school diploma and three years recent, relevant experience or any equivalent education and experience.  Supervisory experience preferred.  Prior museum and/or art related experience preferred.

BACKGROUND CHECKS AND LICENSING:  Possess and maintain BSIS Security Guard Card.
CPR/First Aid/AED Certification or ability to obtain through MCASD-provided training.
Professional references and criminal background check.
